Guillemot (Uria Aalge) and Jumpling

Guillemots will lay a single egg and the chick is raised by both parents. When the chick is about three weeks old it will leap from the cliff into the open sea, the father will stay and care for the ‘jumpling’ until it is old enough to care for itself but they will not return to land until the breeding season again
